dB-3 Wall Products - Reduce sound pressure by 75%!

Walls, Ceilings, Pipes & Environmentally Safe EVA Barrier
STC: up to 65
dB-3™ Acoustical Sound Barrier is a mass loaded barrier designed for commercial, industrial and residential applications to reduce sound disturbances in a space. It is used primarily behind finished wall or ceiling surfaces to block and damp noise across the sound spectrum. dB-3 is also extremely effective as a pipe and duct wrap, to absorb additional noises. And, because it resists mold and mildew, dB-3 is also a great air and moisture barrier to improve HVAC efficiency.

The dB Difference

Stopping sound waves is not just about a barrier's thickness.

dB-3 is a unique material — a dense, flexible layer of protection that traps sounds of all different wavelengths to keep them out of your space!

Eco-Friendly

dB-3 is 100% recyclable at end-of-life.

LEED credits are available with the use of dB-3.

Unlike MLV, our EVA does not harden over time or pose health risk if burned.

Real-World Performance

While the STC measurement is an easy-to-use universal measurement of sound transmission, it does not tell the whole story.

The sounds around us come in a wide range of frequencies, but the STC only measures one point in that range - at 500 hz. The values in this table represent the sound lost in transmission (the amount of sound the wall absorbed).

The dB-3 out performs the untreated wall at each frequency, though the difference in performance varies by frequency. These values represent a single layer of dB-3, but additional layers can increase effectiveness. It is best to prepare your structure for all frequencies of sound to ensure the most comfort.

dB-3 Product Data - Acoustical Barrier

Reduce disturbances from airborne and impact noise in new and existing structures:

  • Commercial & residential construction
  • Multi-family living units
  • Hotels
  • Bedrooms
  • Music rooms & home theaters
  • Conference rooms & privacy protected areas

Preparation and Application
  • Surfaces to receive dB-3 should be clean and dry.
  • Installers should utilize acoustical sealant, tape, sound rated putty and sound isolation materials to preserve the acoustical integrity. Do not use dB-3 within 2 feet of can light fixtures.
  • Install vertically so seams fall on studs.
  • Attach at the top only with screws and staples. dB-3 will be secured permanently when the finished wall material is fastened.
